The Corvette’s closest U.S. competition, the Dodge Viper, has essentially been dropped from Chrysler’s future. In a recent interview with AutoWeek, Henderson revealed the Corvette nameplate is safe for the foreseeable future. As the General’s newest Chief Officer put it: “Corvette pays its rent.” Henderson also said the seventh-generation of the Corvette – dubbed the C7 – is currently under development, but failed to give a timeline for the new two-seater. Reports surfaced as far back as a year ago that the C7 project had been put on hold, with GM’s current financial situation probably prolonging its launch. The current C6 Corvette began production in 2005, making it a relative new comer in Corvette terms. The C3 Corvette soldiered on for 14 years with the following C4 living for a stretch of 12 years. المصدر - الخليج للسيارات |
